Bryan Ross

Special guest

Bryan Ross is a Field CTO at GitLab, which means he gets sent into large enterprises to work out what is actually wrong - usually a people problem wearing a technology costume. A customer once told him the job is chief technical officer in name and chief therapy officer in practice, and he liked it enough to turn it into a brand. He spent decades building platforms and running teams, including a stretch as a manager of managers, before deciding he preferred the fringes of the bell curve to the middle of it and going back to being an individual contributor. Previously at Tanzu, where he and Coté worked together. He publishes his own opinions at Chief Therapy Officer and his work ones at The New Stack, and when he is doing neither he is clearing a driveway that will be covered in leaves again tomorrow, or debugging the fuel system on a 1980s Kubota tractor.
